The .za Domain Name Authority was established in terms of Chapter X of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (25 of 2002). The objectives of the Authority are to administer the .za top level domain of the Internet.

9 December, 2008: .za DNA holds a successful 2008 AGM. new

13 October, 2008: Mxit.co.za is transfered.
Recently an SAIIPL adjudicator made a decision that the disputed mixit.co.za domain name be transferred to Mxit Lifestyle (Pty) Ltd. You can read the decision and decision notification here.

12 August, 2008: The Car Trader wins a co.za domain name dispute. In a recent co.za ADR decision, The Car Trader (Pty) Ltd won a transfer of bikeandleisuretrader.co.za. The decision and decision notification can be read here.

14 July, 2008: Capepointostrichfarm.co.za is transferred.
Recently, an SAIIPL adjudicator resolved a dispute concerning capepointostrich.co.za, and decided that the name must be transferred to the complainant, Cape Point Ostrich Farm. The decision and decision notification are available here.

1 July, 2008: Update: Revised amendments to the .za DNA Memo & Articles.
The special general meeting of the .za DNA members held on 18 June 2008 succeeded in making key resolutions regarding the proposed amendments to the Memorandum and Articles of Association of .za DNA. The proposed amendments have now been revised to include the resolutions of 18 June 2008 and can be found here. After some clarity is obtained from the .za DNA lawyer regarding some few issues highlighted in the document, a final version of the amendments will be tabled to the members for adoption.

30 June, 2008: Luxottica US gets its domain name back.
Recently an adjudicator decided that sunglasshut.co.za should be transferred back to Luxottica US Holdings. The decision and decision notification can be read here.

23 June, 2008: New ADR decision

17 June, 2008: Amendments to the .za DNA Memo & Articles.
For ease of reference at the special general meeting of 18 June 2008, the proposed amendments to the .za DNA Memo & Articles of Association have been revised based on the submissions received, and they include recommendations on way forward. The revised document is available here. The recommendations will be considered at the special general meeting.

2 June, 2008: Automobiles Citroen gets its domain back.
Recently, the French company, Automobiles Citroen, won a dispute to have citroen.co.za transferred back to itself. You can read the decision notification here and the actual decision here.

23 May, 2008: Special general meeting of .za DNA members.
All .za DNA members are invited to attend a special general meeting to approve the proposed amendments to the .za DNA Memorandum and Articles of Association.

22 February, 2008: Victor Chandler International wins an ADR dispute.
An adjudicator from the SAIIPL, an accredited co.za ADR provider, recently ordered that vcbet.co.za be transferred to Victor Chandler International after the adjudicator found the registration to be abusive. Here you can read the decision, and decision notification.

14 December, 2007: Holistic Remedies wins the oxycell.co.za dispute

14 December, 2007: Call for Comment regarding proposed amendments to the .za DNA memo & articles of association
The 2007 AGM of .za DNA members (held on 20 November 2007) decided that the proposed amendments to the current memorandum and articles of association should be posted to .za DNA website to allow .za DNA members to submit comments before the amendments could be approved by the Minister of Communications. The www.privatesale.co.za decision
A dispute lodged by the registrant of www.private-sale.co.za to have www.privatesale.co.za ruled as an abusive registration was recently refused by an SAIIPL adjudicator. You can read the full decision notification and decision here.

AGM 2007 a success

FIFA wins back fifa.co.za

17 September, 2007: New .za DNA Board.

24 August, 2007: Third co.za ADR decision: Telkom gets more names back! Telkom has recently won a dispute authorising the co.za administrator to transfer to Telkom 5 domain names which were previously registered by another registrant. To read the full decision, please click here.

The .za Domain Name Authority has organised a workshop to launch the public consultation process for the .za domain policy & procedures. The workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, 14 August 2007 (10h00 - 14h00) at Balalaika Hotel, Maude Street, Sandton (tel: 011-322-5000). Seats for the event are limited. 17 June, 2007: .za DNA to hold ADR workshop with WIPO & SAIIPL

.za DNA, in association with SAIIPL and UniForum (co.za administrator) will hold a .za ADR workshop on 3-4 September 2007 in Sandton. The first day will be presentations by WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organisation) about international best practices in domain name ADR processes. The second day will be presentations by Nominet (.uk administrators). The workshop is primarily open to accredited .za ADR adjudicators, but limited seats are available for the public.

13 June, 2007: First .za ADR case decided. SAIIPL, an accredited .za ADR service provider, recently resolved its first co.za domain name dispute.
